The ICF-6800W is a PLL tuned World Band receiver from <a class="wiki" href="Sony" rel="">Sony</a>. It is reknown for its sensitivity. Collectors also say that it is the best-sounding Sony of that era.

It measures 18″ x 7″ x 9″ and takes six D-cell batteries. Shortwave is split into 29 spread bands.

Note that models with serial number higher than 30,000 were modified by Sony. One transistor was removed from the pre-selector stage, to reduce overloading when encountering stronger signals. New IF filters were also used. These models can be identified by an orange model number on the front plate (instead of white).
