Philips D8854

The Philips D8854 was used in the James Bond movie "The Living Daylights". It was portrayed as a weapon developed by the Q branch lab. There's a scene where Bond is talking to Q and suddenly they turn to watch a test of the weapon. A scientist is holding the boombox on his shoulder, playing some music ("Sacred Heart" by Chris Blackwell). He pushes a button, and a missile fires from the stereo at a human dummy target, which is destroyed by the resulting explosion. Q turns to Bond and says, "It's something we're making for the Americans. It's called a ghetto blaster!"

This model was made in Austria, and features a vertical CD player in front, a tuner and a horizontal cassette player on top, and line inputs. It also has detachable 3-way speakers. There isn't much bass, but it still sounds OK. Note, there is another version of this boombox called the D8554 which has an 8-inch "super woofer" instead of a CD player.
