The CFS-500 is a colorful boombox with blue and red graphics, and tweeters hung in front of the woofers.

Sony CFS-500

The CFS-500 was a midsize boombox from Sony's 1983 lineup. It has 16cm woofers with 3cm tweeters suspended in front of them. It's a good-looking model, with its red and blue graphics. There aren't many features though, other than a 3-band (LOL) graphic equalizer and a small LED meter above the tape door. It doesn't have Line Input, just Mic Input.

It takes 8 D-cell batteries. Its output power, according to the service manual, is 2x2.5 watts minimum from 150 to 10,000 Hz, both channels driven, at 3.2 ohms and no more than 10% total harmonic distortion. If that seems low to you, that's because Sony was using the old FTC testing standard, which was very conservative. Less honest manufacturers would have used a more liberal standard, or none at all.
