Sanyo M-X824

The MX-824 was one of the best boomboxes from Sanyo. Its conservative appearance masks the fact that it was one of their most powerful and best-sounding models. It is similar to the Sanyo M-X820 except that it is finished in silver and lacks the woodgrain sides. It appears to be scarcer than the woodgrained finished one, as the examples that have come up for sale the past few years all seemed to have the wood grained sides.

The example below is owned by member Superduper who was very fortunate to find one "in the wild" many years ago. They fetch a small fortune today due to it's rarity and the unique features. Additionally, it is a heavy, top quality unit with very good sound to boot. This model definitely is not all show and no go.

A very unique feature of this model found in no other model, by any other manufacturer we are aware of is the flying LCD tuner display, that "floats" just under and moves with the tuning needle. It must have been expensive to build it this way, as we have not seen any model before or after with this feature.
