Big 3-piece boombox from 1980 with 8-inch woofers and a nice metal faceplate.

Marantz PMS-7000 and 7004

The PMS-7000/7004 was a portable stereo (ghettoblaster) from Marantz. The price was supposedly $750 according to a 1980 issue of Playboy. Check out the beautiful metal knobs and faceplate. The tuner dial is lighted, and the tuner knob is weighted. The detachable speakers contain 20cm woofers and 5cm tweeters, with a crossover frequency of 8,800 Hz. Interestingly, the amplifier chips (Panasonic AN7154) are mounted inside the speakers instead of in the center unit.
