The i-931 is the 21st century rebirth of the old Lasonic TRC-931, with Bluetooth or an iPod dock instead of a tape deck.

Lasonic i-931

Lasonic i-931 Boombox. Continuing with the Lasonic tradition of making large flashy boomboxes that pumps loud sound, this i-931 version sports a digital AM/FM tuner, a dock that houses either an iPod or iPhone (traditional wide interface only, not the new tiny ones) inputs for Aux, SD/MMC card and USB drives. The familiar mirrored/cascading led meters remain and this model comes in a variety of colors. The example shown here is all white and the owner customized it with an assortment of stickers. As this model contains basically the same 8" speaker drivers it has used in most of the earlier versions, it likewise has a good strong sound. It is a fairly light box for it's size which suggests cheapness, however it also allows it to be easily carried around. This model is however a bit more power hungry than earlier analog versions however since the digital portion of the boombox will shut down the unit and prevent it from powering up if the batteries are low. This has resulted in some owners thinking that their units were defective since the batteries will still power up an analog boombox, albeit at a reduced lower volume. Although at first glance, there are some similarities in appearance with the older models, especially on the black ones, these newer ones have a more rounded appearance rather than the sharp cornered boxy ones from the 80's. These also have some deceptive graphics. For example, if you look at the image, you may think that this device sports an analog tuner based on the graphics showing a tuner scale. In fact, it's nothing more than printed graphics. What appears to be a tuner knob (as in the traditional Lasonic TRC-931 model) is actually a volume control knob.

There were several custom versions of the I-931, including the extremely rare all-chrome version and a LiHai sharpie version.
